Symbols are so important to our expression. The symbol of the heart really means kinder, gentler thoughts but we choose to instead relate more to the faster beating heart experience of when we are in romantic love. That works well for romance but a lot of our daily loving is for people other than our significant intimate relationship.
Kind, gentle, accepting thoughts are the ticket to ride the love train. And the first passenger needing a ticket is ourselves. We are both the conductor and one of the passengers. Sometimes we forget about taking care of ourselves first and I do not mean we become self-centered. So how do I know if I am being kind, gentle and accepting of myself?
The answer is both simple and complex. I have a simple test I use to see if I actually talk differently to myself than I would to another. If my best friend, brother or sister were to come to me with any of the problems or issues that are presently causing me stress in my life how would I respond to them? What would I say? How would I say it? If I find that I would be kinder and gentler to another than I am to myself then I know that I need to change my behaviour towards myself. Love lifts us up where we belong.
Only when I have taken care of Brad am I capable of taking good care of others. In order to be a good husband, friend, brother, son, colleague or even casual acquaintance I must first “take care of my own busines”. The business of Brad. In reality we are all first in partnership with our inner selves. The complexity comes from the fact I may not know where the inner voice comes from that are less kind and gentle than I want and need for myself as well as to give to others. And this is where our faith fits in.
Have faith that you can and will become the kinder, gentler person you see and know supports others. Centre yourself around your faith. Relax and let the universe create for you. You do not have to create the path to walk on. You simply need to step forth into a new perspective. When we take the first step to our new selves the universe will reorganize around us to support our new world view.
How does the universe do it? I do not know and I do not spend time thinking about it, that is not my role. I spend all my time making choices to have the life I love to live and as that is what works for me, it is all I know to recommend to you. So become the most centered person you know and love will truly lift you up and you will soar to the highest point of view you can create. And from this lofty perspective you will love the world and the world in turn will love you back.
