Is the door opening or closing?

Perspective is such an important part of our life. It is the precursor to our attitude. Our attitude is the precursor to our thoughts. Our thoughts the precursor to our feelings. And finally, our feelings the precursor to our actions.

When you look at the photo what do you see? Is it a door opening? Is it a door closing. Is inviting or limiting? There is no “real” answer but our answers will individually feel very real to us. The secret to life may just be our ability to switch our perspectives and choose the one we want.

The reason I chose this photo is that in reality there is nothing restricting us from walking (actually flying as we appear to be mid-air) around the other side of the door should we choose to do so. And that is the same in reality in our lives. There is nothing which stops us from choosing to see any given situation from any particular angle other than our choice to do so.

In my view a door is always open in my future. I just walk around exploring and opening them. I have heard other people say “when one door closes another opens”. I do not really have very many “closing doors” in my life. I find that my life offers many interesting and exciting new opportunities and rarely does a door shut on me. Normally I simply walk down the hall to a new door and open it. I can always go back later to a previous door…it normally will remain open at least a crack for me. I believe this is because I choose to live my life this way.

So if you are finding that a lot of doors “close” on you or before you or after you. Ask yourself is that is what you really want. And if it is then celebrate it. And if it is not then change it. It is your life. It is your choice. And so it is.
