Our reality is shaped and formed from all the thoughts we have ever had. This is amazing and offers us immeasurable choice. Now, some of those thoughts, at least for me, are not thoughts that I wanted nor want to continue taking with me and the miracle is I can set them aside.
The answer to “how I do it?” is really “think again” as I sometimes heard in my childhood if I was making a choice my parents thought was not befitting of me. And in fact “befitting” (appropriate to oneself) is exactly what my thoughts need to be in order for me change my life.
So let’s go with the acronym Be Fit to change our thinking and change our living. If we follow the steps below we can set course for a different destination. A destination of our own choosing.
B – begin at the beginning
In order to change our thinking we need to go back before the sponsoring thought and put the new seed in. I do it by visioning Brad getting younger and younger until such time as I do not see myself having that thought. Is this a reflection of reality of when the thought began? Who knows, but it does not matter and does not impact the exercise in any way. Why let a little thing like reality stand in our way.
E – express the thought you want to let go
It does us no good to pretend we do not have a thought we have. We need express it before we can eliminate it. Personally I like to allow myself full dramatic license to describe it in all its inglorious detail. So I might describe it in its worst form or when it feels the most powerful or I feel the weakest to defend against it. Sometimes it is good to do it in front of a mirror to release our fear of stating it.
F – faslify the wrong thought stating clearly against it
We need to negate it or else it will return to us. I find that having described it fully makes it easier for me to know how to falsify it. I state the “cure”. So if for example one needed to change their relationship with using recreational or alcohol to escape they could use “an altered state negates my ability to experience each moment in the fullness of now and my life purpose is found when I am consciously connected and aware”.
I – inspire the new thought
As it is impossible for us to “not think” a thought we must instead have an ispiring replacement thought. If I have done a good job expressing and falsifying I find it is much easier to get my inspirational replacement thought. In keeping with the example above it would sound something like “my power comes from the air I breath and each breath connects me to my awareness.
T – tell yourself often
The key to replacement thoughts, I believe, is to get them into our subconscious which is done by repetition so once we have our clear inspiration expressed as a new thought we must continue to repeat it to ourselves. Different people choose different methods for repetition. One I have enjoyed is the 7 times 7 rule. Say it 7 in succession as a mantra and then repeat the mantra 7 times. That makes 49 which adds to 13 which is my birth-date so I like that connection. Choose whatever method resonates with you.
In any event I know, because I have proven it to myself, that we can change our thinking and change our life. I hope that you discover using tools like “Be Fit” can help us to build the live we will love to live.
