I love to laugh. It is such a basic human communication. No matter what language or culture we are raised in all humans make the same sound when we laugh. Laughter truly is a universal language.
So today I thought I would share with you what tickles my fancy, on the off chance it may tickle yours as well. Did you know that chimps will burst out laughing when another chimp even pretends to tickle them? Now you do…smile.
I laugh when my husband becomes stubborn. He is devestatingly handsome but when he gets stubborn his chin sets and then the cleft becomes more pronounced and he transforms into being utterly irresistable. It makes me laugh each time he does it. Not in a teasing way but in an I love you and want to kiss you kind of way. And when I start laughing and kissing then he laughs and kisses as well and then he is even more handsome. Nothing is better to unlock a stubborn streak than a smile laced with laughter and the kisses are just the icing on the cake. Trust me, a smile and laughter have the most amazing power.
Another time I laugh is whenever I look into the mirror and do facial exercises to tighten my skin and sculpture my face. Somehow I decided years ago that this was something I could do to tone my face and now I cannot do it without laughing. I stretch, scrunch and smooch my way into my own hysterics. I am not sure which is the best part of the exercise, the laughing or the actual exercises themselves but by the end of it I am both exhausted and exhilirated. Regardless of the benefits or lack therof, this is a fun habit and I am sticking to it. I figure even as I develop wrinkles they will be symetric owing to all the laughter and really what more can a man asked for than a symetrically laugh lined face. I mean really.
And even though jokes are really only responsible for about 12% to 15% of our laughter I have to admit that I am particularly fond of British comedy and have been known to chuckle, guffaw and downright belly laugh (which incidentally is become less easy now owing to my diet success story but that is for another day). Sometimes when I am watching I laugh so hard that I have to pause the television for fear of accidentally marking territory in my own living room!
So today, I hope that you were at least somewhat amused at my article and my wish is that you find one hundred points in time at which to laugh today. And remember that I shall be right there with you laughing alongside but never at you. Laughter truly is a blessing.
