Life sometimes can appear to carry us away on the tradewinds. The allure of the future. The push and pull of our fantasies can conspire to take us out of the moment. Do not be fooled. If we do not live in this moment, what makes us think we will present for the next one?
No man is an island unto himself, each one is a part of the main, a piece of the whole. That is how the poem goes. But what is the “whole” of which the author speaks? The good news is the author is deceased and so we must answer this question for ourselves. The reason it is “good” news is that any answer we get from within will be much closer to the truth than any answer provided by another (or the writings on their blog…smile…believe nothing I write unless it is true for you).
Seeking within. Seeking without. Two similar states but easily confused. The former requires meditation. The latter pursues investigation. Both states have merit. Each state creates a path to enlightenment. The easiest and fastest of the two is to seek within. Seeking without will eventually always lead us to question within and thus the ultimate destination is the same.
What is it that I seek? I seek one thing and one thing only, to connect. To connect to all that has been before. To ensure that I do not break a connection to all that is to come after me. To connect to all around me. To connect to all life. To connect to the universe of which I am not only part but which is required in order to support me. Without the universe there is no matter. Without matter I am not aware of myself as physical. Without physicality I do not create my conscious awareness of this thing called life.
So today, I connect to the universal mind, presence, spirit, energy, science or whatever other label one might choose to name it. It is the wonder of creation no matter what the name. I allow myself to be filled and formed in the presence of the universal laws and I do my only job which is to celebrate that today I am here and so it is.
