To play any musical instrument requires ability, skill and knowledge.  It is no coincidence (ok maybe it is) that together they form the word ask. Learning is the first letter in our acronym of LOVE.

There are, of course, exceptions but in order for us to learn the overwhelming majority of us must ask others for help. Developing any talent, no matter how inherent, requires sharing.

We start very early in life with “lessons” but so often in adulthood we set aside the concept of learning as if somehow we are not as thirsty for knowledge seeing as we have already developed some skills and abilities. This is a mistake I believe. Our thirst for new abilities, skills and knowledge will serve us all the days of our lives.

The quest for new knowledge, the desire to learn are central tenets to being human. As humans we can learn for the pure enjoyment of it. And to provide or inspire learning in others is a higher calling indeed. Some of my most wonderful moments have centered around learning and teaching.

So today celebrate all that you have learned by sharing with it others. Spread it around. Inspire others. Be inspired by others. Those who are interested will always appear in your life at the right time for them. And I am always also on the lookout for my own teachable moment. I can only learn when I choose to do so. I will only learn when I want to do so. And so I choose to do so here and now and commit to a continuous stream of learning in my life. And so it is.
