Getting to know our inner child (Part 3)…

I am writing this on the third day of second month of 2010. I see it as 1, 2, 3. The secret to my success is as simple and succinct as one, two and three and we are going to use this to release our inner child.

In the previous two articles on Getting to know our inner child (Part 1 and Part 2) you were encouraged to save images that you felt drawn to from a variety of sources. In Part 2 you were asked to separate these into three distinct piles. Must, want and can’t. Today we are going to do our final step in the process.

You only need one pile to examine. There is only one thing stopping us from releasing our inner child. It is our childish fears and it is time to have our inner parent get to work. Pull out your pile of can’t haves and lets look at them more closely.

Do you think the universe thinks to itself; I just can’t create another sun? There are billions of them and I simply cannot do it. If you are smiling at this statement then you know the power of dismissing what is not real. Of course the universe can create more suns and it will. It is the cycle of life and it cannot but help itself create. Well here is the news flash for each of us. We are the same. We create our universe and we create everything within it. All the elements are available to us and we have the power of creation.

Take the one photo that seems the most out of reach for you. What is the one thing you find yourself drawn to that you apparently cannot have? For me it would be a Bentley. I am not sure if it is the flying B symbol is the same as the first letter of my name or what it is but the Bentley has long been on my list of “like to have but cannot have”. For someone who already has driven around in a Jaguar it seems unusual that I would believe another car is not attainable. Why have I placed this limitation on myself? Do I really want it? In fact what is funny is that I cannot see myself driving one. It does not look like a fun car to drive. I have been telling myself a great big story. I do not want a Bentley. I like the look. They represent power, both in engineering and social status but in reality I think a painting of the flying B in my home would satisfy my desire. in fact I think creating my own piece of art or imagery around the flying B would completely satisfy my desire. I have had the power all along but I was choosing to keep it unattainable.

What is it that you are really telling yourself? Do you “really” want the items in your pile of cannots? Perhaps and perhaps what you want is related and not exactly in the photo. But know this. No matter whether it is the thing itself, a modified version of it or in fact you do not want it at all,  you have the power to create it and the solutions to each cannot in your life.

Many years ago someone once said to me that can’t is an acronym for “certainly are not trying”. Before it might have been because I did not know how, then I think I believed I did not have the power and now I know I have the knowledge and the power to achieve everything my heart desires in my life. And so do you. And so it is.
