Expressing ourselves creatively can really help up us to both develop our imagination and reduce stress in our lives.

Whenever I have been asked the question in my life; are you an artist? I always say yes. When people would then say; do you paint? I would respond, “not yet but I intend to some day”.

Truth be told, I  have a difficult time drawing a straight line with a ruler but I have never let that get in the way of my belief that we are all artistic. I subscribe to the “kindergarten model of artistic development”. This model (made up by me just a few moments ago) states that all children have an inate ability to represent the world around them because they haven not learned they cannot do it to any particular degree of accuracy or talent.

My new model makes it simple for each of us to let loose our inner Picasso. Get some supplies, give ourselves some time and just start being artsy fartsy. Even the term “artsy fartsy” is a wonderful and whimsical term to start us off. You are artistic. You do have talent. You always have, so let it out.

And this model for getting in touch with our “inner artist” is the same approach we can take to find our inner happiness. You are already happy. You  always have been. All you have to do is let it out and start expressing it. So if you thought you needed to wait until you have “enough therapy” or if the “right job”, “right person”, “right situation” was somehow gonna to be the catalyst you needed, then I have some excellent news for you today. Nope! That ain’t it kid, that ain’t it. Instead set the waiting aside and start living your happy life today.
