Around the globe we are leaving behind 2009 and beginning 2010.
In Vancouver it will bring the Olympics and a party that has been planned for six years but for tonight it will simply be reviewing what has happened and hoping for what can happen next year.
I believe that the most important aspect of ourselves to celebrate on this particular night of the year is our imagination. In fact not just celebrate it but allow it to inspire us.
Our imagination is what is at play if and when we chose resolutions. We first picture a perfect prototype and then we imagine ourselves living it. How often I have heard people say they do not make resolutions because they never keep them. How sad I think to myself. They are laying out expectations when they could be choosing celebrations.
This year make a resolution and create the space for it to flourish in your life. Set goals that celebrate who you are instead of setting you up to feel disappointed in who you are not. Set goals that you know you can meet or beat. Challenge yourself to celebrate yourself more not fail to live up to expectations.
Here is something worth achieving. This year I am going to find 3 new things I excel at doing and I am going to enjoy including them into my life. Now there is a resolution that offers both challenge and reward simultaneously.
Whatever you decide to do please, please, please be kind to yourself, encourage your and celebrate your strengths. Happy New Year.
