One of the challenges we often believe we face in determining our spiritual direction is the fact we have lost sight of our destination and where we were headed in the first place and this in effect seems to make it virtually impossible to choose where to go because we are not sure where in fact we are. The truth is you are always in the right and perfect location and so all you really need to is look to the choices in front of you now and pick your new destination.
Occasionally, we may also choose to have difficulty picking a new destination. The issue here is not in fact the destination but usually fear of picking. Fear can manifest in many ways but the most common form is actually inaction, which we sometimes label as procrastination or even laziness. When we do not take positive action in our life to move us in to fuller and richer experiences and expressions of ourselves it can be a clear sign we need to practice more spiritual fitness.
The practice is a lot simpler than we first imagine. Anyone can increase their spiritual fitness by doing some simple exercises (think of them like warm-ups at the gym). The exercises always concentrate on the five senses (look, touch, smell, hear and taste) and can be done in the form of anything from a walking meditation to a holistic sensory retreat.
So the next time you are feeling anxious or stressed or just fatigued take a moment to remember that you are a master and your spiritual fitness is as simple and easy as you make it.
