Put your best foot forward…

Look at this photo. Is there any doubt she is putting her best foot forward? Not in my mind. She entices us with the possibilities of what is to come. She tantalizes us with the riches she is about to bestow upon us. She is poised and waiting for just the right moment to share her talent with us. She is the dancer within us.

Poised with anticipation and excitement is in fact the way I suggest we start each and every day. Although it is true that we can be put off course by negative thoughts, emotions and even behaviours that should never distract us from the fact that at anytime we can hold ourselves poised to release the best of ourselves. All it takes to change from negative to positive is a moment to pause, reflect, choose anew and then create it.

Each day is a different part of the dance. Each day we can add new steps and increase our performance skills. The dance always continues. We can change the music, the costumes, the stage or the moves but the dancer within us always remains.

Not everything we try will remain part of our repertoire but that does not mean we should not try new moves. Part of creation is to constantly renew ourselves and the dance of life provides us many opportunities to create anew. The creation is as important as the final performance. And we can dance with abandon for only we can really hear the music in our heads. It is our dance and our song.

So here is my suggestion for each of us today. I admit that I have some experience, okay more than some, in this exercise. Go to your music library. Get out your best dancing song. Turn it on, turn it up and turn yourself out to the music. Dance and move. Release your inner dancer and let the music carry you away. You are talented. You are free and you are the creative genius in your own life so dance until your heart is content.
