Spiritual Principle 1 – Consciousness

If you are reading this then you are conscious. In other words you have the ability to be aware.  But what exactly are you aware of and what should, could, would you be aware of in order to define yourself as spiritually conscious?

I believe that there are two disparate elements. The physical and the spiritual. They exist on different planes. However, when we are manifest in human form our spiritual “self” appears to inhabit our physical body. The place where the two merge is what I call the soul, the mind meets the spirit.

When I talk about conscious I am referring to the soul connection. The place where the body becomes more aware of the spiritual self. In order to do this something unusual must happen. In order to know ourselves more we have to become conscious that there is something greater than ourselves. It appears to be an oxymoron but just think of it for a moment. If I provide you only one drop of water how much will you understand about the ocean?

So when we talk of conscious we are really talking about becoming more aware of the greater whole. Through awareness of the “larger self” we can better know the individual self.I have an exercise I am going to suggest you try in order to get more insight into your conscious awareness of your spiritual and physical bond.

Take a piece of your hair (you could clip it, cut it, get from the shower, use an eyelash). I want you to tape this hair to your bathroom mirror or fridge or somewhere you will see it often for the next week. Each time you see the hair say the following:

I am conscious of this hair. It is part of me and I am part of it.
