Love is in the air…

OrchidLove is everywhere. I wanted to spend a moment sharing and expressing my love for Pedro. This is the most beautiful example I could find of my husband’s favorite flower. His mother grew orchids when he was a child and they have always been his favorite.

To me they have always been a special, unique and extraordinarily beautiful and exotic flower. It is fitting that Pedro’s mom would be a gardener growing this beautiful flower in Cuba and something my own mother, who loved flowers, might have enjoyed learning about had she met Cari.

The photographer has captured, with his or her camera, the same beauty I feel whenever I spend time with Pedro, which I am lucky enough to do everyday. I love to talk to him and see what his experience is each day. Even though we may be thousands of kilometers apart we make the time each day to be together and even shower together, sometimes eating the same foods, worlds apart, in different time zones but joined together in love.  I notice that each moment when I think of him I smile both inside and outside. I am so lucky to have this wonderful man in my life.

When I first met Pedro I was immediately attracted to him and that was over three years ago now. How easy it is to be sexually attracted to another human being, it requires no thought or effort. But attraction does not create a relationship. A relationship is forged like steel. It must be heated and cooled. It must become stronger and not brittle. And I am lucky enough to have this experience in my relationship with Pedro. Even when we are apart we are always together in spirit. And I believe, that a relationship can either be growing or dying but never static. Humans and our emotions are energy and fluid. They do not stand still. We work to keep our relationship growing each day just like the gardener tends the orchids. Orchids will grow in the wild and orchids can grow naturally. But with care and breeding the orchid can blossom like never before and that is the same with our relationships. Now that is not to say each day requires a lot of work, in fact most days it does not. But when a weed threatens growth it is best dealt with and that is what we do.

And so with a loving and open heart I say. Miel, te amo. Estoy tan feliz que está en mi vida ahora y siempre. Gracias. Honey, I love you. I am so happy you are in my life now and always. Thank you.
