Rainy days and Mondays always make me smile…

Context is everything. A few small drops of water can mean the difference between rescue and disaster. Let’s say we are out hiking and we drop our water bottle. It is a hot summers day and we are repelling down a cliff face when we come upon a plant that still  has about a half cup of water in its leaves from a late night rain shower. Now envision your brand new Laptop is sitting on a table and the same 1/2 cup of water is about to be spilt on they keyboard. See the difference?

The water, in and of itself is neither good nor bad. It is the context which determines our value judgement. This is always true in our lives as well. We are the contextualizers (I just love how you can just make up words in english and even if they did not exist previously everyone understands what you mean…smile) of our own lives. It is up to us to choose the perspective from which we view each situation in our lives.

I live in a temperate rainforest. I choose to see it as a lush green garden paradise. I know others who choose to see it as a place with mostly grey dismal overcast skies. That is not my experience just as they do not see the lush greenness. Neither interpretation is really right or wrong. They are in fact variations on the exact same topic. But the energy changes and inherent within it is the experience of the individuals. So if we choose to focus on the lush greenness then we see life growing and renewing. If we choose to focus on the overcast sky we see life shielded from life giving nutrients from the sun’s rays. In bloom or in gloom? How do you choose to see your life?

So the important theme is again – choice. I cannot stress it enough. We have the life we have because we choose it to be so. It is of paramount importance we are aware of this because through our increased awareness comes an ability to change it. Our feelings stem from our thoughts so it follows then that if we change our  thoughts our feelings will change. Change your thinking, change your life.

We can each choose to have the life we love to live and we can choose to do it right here and now. I choose to live a life full of laughter and love and learning. The more I give, the more I get and so it is.
