Timing is everything or is it nothing…

The item in the photo is actually a clock. It is the 10,000 year clock from the Long Now Foundation. The six man engineering team who created this clock were challenging us to think long-term. I am going to suggest we make another leap. I am going to suggest we would be benefit from thinking outside of time.

I believe that each of us is a spiritual being living in a human casing. The human casing is part of the physical universe (sometimes called the existent space time continuum). The issue for me, and perhaps yourself, is that I am not always enamored with the timing of certain events in my life. I might wish them sooner, later, never, always. It is this type of thinking which takes me out of the moment of the “existent space time continuum” (ok so I love the term and wanted to use it twice, let it go) and puts me into a moment in time that does not really exist. In other words, every-time I think “sooner or later” I really create a place that has not and will never exist. I do not need to try and manipulate timing in my life. I need to manoeuvre my life into syncronicity with the universe of which I am a part. I have been concentrating on the wrong thing!

Now I do not judge myself for this thinking and I hope you do not judge yourself for it either if and when you might do it. If I find myself wishing to be sooner or later in my life I can simply turn my attention to what do I choose now in this moment. And making a choice does not automatically create a judgement. In fact judgement and choice are not even distant cousins. They are not related. So if you choose to marry them then so be it. It is, of course, your choice…smile.

So timing is not everything. In fact, timing is really nothing. Time is in perfect harmony in the universe. Time is simply doing its thing. Time is moving on and when I find myself wanting to question the timing of something I can simply move on as well. In fact, I would be so bold as to suggest that it is always time to move on. And I do not mean run away from responsibility either. I mean it is always time for us to move with the flow of our lives.

And if you need something more physical/tangible to help you envision when to move on then I suggest you look at the perpetual movement of the mechanism of the Long Now Clock and then you will actually have a vivid mental picture that time does not stop and therefore neither need we. So next time you and time do not appear on the same side, change your thinking and you will change your life. And so it is.
